City of DePere Health Department and ComedyCity partner
to remind everyone that
“Fighting COVID is No Laughing Matter”
De Pere - De Pere Health Department is partnering with a local improv comedy troupe, ComedyCity, to encourage residents and visitors to receive the COVID-19 Vaccination.
With the return of the De Pere Beer Gardens, hosted by De Pere Parks, Recreation and Forestry at Voyageur Park, the Health Department will be running on-site vaccination clinics. ComedyCity will provide free admissions for future shows for those
choosing to receive the vaccine at these and other City events.
“Fighting COVID so we can return to normal is no joke” said Chad Nehring, co-owner of The Green Room, home of ComedyCity. “But, we realize that everyone needs more laughter, so we wanted to offer a way to bring the community
together.”
“We are grateful for the wonderful support of our community in helping fight COVID-19, including gestures like this from ComedyCity. Getting vaccinated is both safe and effective, and we urge all those who have not yet vaccinated to consider the many
opportunities we’ll be offering throughout the summer, including at the De Pere Beer Gardens,” said Deborah Ambruster, director of the De Pere Health Department.
ComedyCity has been a fixture in the Green Bay area for over 30 years, and in DePere for nearly half of that time. Shows run both Friday and Saturday evenings, with Fridays shows being family friendly, all-ages appropriate. As one of Wisconsin’s longest running improvisational comedy troupes, they along with most performance venues had to weather the effects of COVID.
“Except for a brief period in early September, we were closed for performances for nearly a year. That said, the support we received from the City of DePere was exceptional. This is our small way of being able to return that support” said Nehring. “We have such a vibrant downtown and we’re thrilled to be a part of it.”
The DePere Beer Gardens return to Voyager Park on Tuesdays from 4:30-9PM on June 29, July 27, and Aug. 31, with a Saturday garden on Sept. 25. De Pere Health Department vaccinations will be available at the Tuesday events, and will be onsite
from 4:30 to 6:30 pm. No pre-registration is required to get vaccinated.
